AWS Glue Interactive Sessions now supports 4 new notebook kernel magics: assume_role, tags, session_type and matplot. These magics are available in Glue Interactive Sessions kernel 1.0 or later. Additionally, Glue Interactive Sessions now supports IAM Conditionals.
Each of these new magics address a unique need: ‘session_type’ help customers easily change their session type by choosing between Spark, Ray, or Streaming; ‘assume_role’ allows customers to use a different role for starting their sessions; ‘tags’ help customers better control and monitor their sessions by using AWS tags; ‘matplot’ offers support for visualizations with the matplotlib library.
The new IAM Conditionals support enables customers to set specific conditions and limitations to their sessions. For example: allowing connections only via specific VPC networks or restricting them to use specific subnet and security group.
These new features are now available in all AWS regions where AWS Glue is available. Access the AWS Regional Services List for the most up-to-date availability information.
