Amazon Web Services (AWS) announces the general availability of AWS Ground Station in US West (Alaska) region. This is the 12th AWS Ground Station antenna location connected to the AWS Global Network. Global expansion to Alaska enables increased opportunities for satellite operators to connect with their satellites and process their space workloads. Governments, businesses, and universities can benefit from more timely satellite data to make data-driven decisions.
AWS Ground Station is a fully managed service that enables customers to control satellite communications, process satellite data, and scale satellite operations. With AWS Ground Station, you pay only for the antenna time that you use. Cross-region data delivery is included in our pricing, enabling customers to either receive satellite data from any of our antennas to Amazon Elastic Cloud Compute (Amazon EC2) for real-time processing or instead directly store data in Amazon Simple Storage Service (Amazon S3).
Customers can send satellite commands and receive data using AWS Ground Station antennas in the following locations: North America (Hawaii, Ohio, Oregon, Alaska), Middle East (Bahrain), Europe (Ireland, Stockholm), Asia Pacific (Seoul, Singapore, Dubbo), Africa (Cape Town), and South America (Punta Arenas). Customers configure their contacts with the AWS Ground Station console and deliver data in the following AWS regions: US West (Oregon), US East (Ohio, N. Virginia), Middle East (Bahrain), Europe (Stockholm, Ireland, Frankfurt), Asia Pacific (Dubbo, Seoul, Singapore), Africa (Cape Town), and South America (São Paulo).
