Amazon SES enhances configurability with maximum delivery time for emails

Posted on: Oct 15, 2024

Amazon Simple Email Service (SES) now offers a new delivery option that allows you to set a custom maximum delivery time for your emails. With this feature, you can define how long SES should attempt to deliver emails that encounter temporary issues such as soft bounces, with options ranging from 5 minutes to 14 hours.

The maximum delivery time setting enables you to effectively control your email delivery strategy, ensuring that emails are sent within a timeframe that suits your business needs. This is particularly relevant for time-sensitive emails such as one-time passwords, or when sending email to regions where overnight deliveries are likely to result in complaints. By setting a shorter retry delivery window, you can protect customer satisfaction by ensuring that recipients only receive emails that are timely and relevant.

You can now set the maximum delivery time in all AWS Regions where Amazon SES is offered.
