VMware: Faster Path to Hybrid Cloud (Level 200)

Speaker: Deckard Cheung, Cloud Specialist, VMware Hong Kong

Enterprises are rapidly adopting hybrid cloud strategies to take advantage of both on-premises and cloud services. However, moving applications to the cloud can be difficult and time-consuming, often taking months. VMware offers solutions that customers are using to migrate hundreds of applications to the cloud in a few days. Additionally, VMware solutions simplify day 2 operations by providing consistent infrastructure and operations across on-premises and public cloud services. Come to this session to hear how VMware is helping enterprises migrate applications to the cloud, extend their data centers to the cloud, deploy cloud-based disaster recovery solutions and modernize their applications with the power of VMware and AWS cloud services.

Build a Unified Cloud (Level 100)

Speaker: Sunil Chavan, Head of Flashblade APJ, Pure Storage

Enterprises dream of hybrid applications across on-premise and public clouds. Today, we have enterprise applications running largely on-premise while most web-scale applications are built in the cloud. The cloud divide is real and inhibits enterprises from getting leverage in a hybrid cloud world. There is a need for enterprises to unify their multiple clouds and on-premise.

Bonus Session: Resiliency and Availability Design Patterns for the Cloud (Level 300)

Speaker: Adrian Hornsby, Technical Evangelist, AWS

We have traditionally built robust software systems by trying to avoid mistakes and by dodging failures when they occur in production or by testing parts of the system in isolation from one another. Modern methods and techniques take a very different approach based on resiliency, which promotes embracing failure instead of trying to avoid it. Resilient architectures enhance observability, leverage well-known patterns such as graceful degradation, timeouts and circuit breakers. In this session, will review the most useful patterns for building resilient software systems and especially show the audience how they can benefit from the patterns.
  • Track 2: Build & Compute
  • Track 2: Build & Compute

At AWS we think of builders as both inventors and maintainers, and that every existing solution can be improved. It’s even more so in Enterprises where workloads are complex and dynamic. You have to keep iterating, listening to customers around what they care about, and building. This track will cover tools, techniques, tips, tricks and tactics for builders to exploit and optimize resources. You will also learn APN Partner solutions to maintain optimal performance at any scale.

The Enterprise Immune System: Using Machine Learning for Next-Gen Cyber Defence (Level 100 - 200)

Speaker: Yvette Lau, Cyber Security Account Manager, Darktrace

From insiders to sophisticated external attacker, the reality of cyber security today is that the threat is already inside. A fundamentally new approach to cyber defense is needed to detect and investigate these threats that are already inside the network - before they turn into a full-blown crisis.

Based on unsupervised machine learning and probabilistic mathematics developed by specialists from the University of Cambridge, new ‘immune system’ technologies are capable of learning the ‘self’ of an organization. By analyzing every network, device, and user, and modeling them as they go about their day-to-day activity, the Enterprise Immune System can establish a highly accurate understanding of normal behavior. It can therefore spot abnormal activity as it emerges, and even take precise, measured actions to automatically curb the threat.

Rules and signatures are not keeping pace with today’s rapidly evolving cyber attacks. The Enterprise Immune System represents a fundamental step-change in automated cyber defense,  is relied upon by organizations around the world, and can cover up to millions of devices.

Using AIOps to Reduce Incident Volumes (Level 200)

    Speakers:

Itai Njanji, Global Practice Manager, Operations integration, AWS

Fiona Chu, APJC Lead, Operations Integration Global Specialty Practice, AWS

Customers migrating workloads to AWS have a variety of tools to monitor their infrastructure, generating large volumes of alarms from services such as Amazon CloudWatch, AWS Config, and other third party tools. Without careful curation, events and tickets can exponentially multiply and overwhelm ITSM systems and the teams operating them, obscuring real problems and wasting time. Using advanced Machine Learning techniques, customers can reduce noise from these events and tickets, and increase their service quality. In this presentation, we explore challenges of adopting AIOps, and provide examples of how AIOps can be used to reduce Mean Time To Restore and improve customer outcomes.
