Breaking Barriers - Leading to survive and thrive in the next cycle
The AWS Summit | ExecLeaders event is an exclusive, in-person event at 155 Bishopsgate in London. The event brings business leaders and technology innovators together to explore the theme of ‘Breaking Barriers’.
We live in interesting times, with every industry being reinvented. There are many inspirational stories on how companies, large and small, are doing this. But let’s acknowledge that these are tough times - geopolitical instability, concerns with the environment, rising interest rates and energy costs, stubbornly high inflation, a shortage of talent and skills, and new competitors emerging for every industry. Once dependable supply chains are now witnessing shortages which have increased lead times to 70% longer than pre-pandemic.
These concerns have led modern leaders to recognise that the only way to deal with this complexity is to try something, measure the response and then adapt or scale accordingly. They recognise that planning and best practices have their place, but much of what they are doing has never been done before. Our hope is that we can help grow these leaders from a minority of less than 30% to a more pervasive style of leadership.
It’s for this reason that the theme of the ExecLeaders event is Breaking Barriers. We’ll look at how future ready organisations are balancing short term issues with the ability to grow. We’ll share real insights from customers on themes that underpin their organisations.
This event will explore how businesses are addressing these themes, taking a look at some of the underlying needs including bold leadership, talent & culture, data, AI and ML, sustainable operations, and emerging technologies.

Succeeding in economies of speed: Rethinking your levers
When leaders look to change their organization, they often begin with restructuring, defining new processes and guidelines, or granting exceptions to innovation units. However, transformation isn’t about doing existing things better; it’s foremost about doing different things and doing them differently. This talk highlights why transformation is different from any other project and challenges you to rethink your levers for change.
Speakers:
Ishit Vachhrajani, AWS Global Director of Enterprise Strategy and former CTO of A+E Networks -

What Technology Leaders Should Learn from Wall Street
As Jeff Bezos once noted, the only sustainable advantage is organizational agility which is enabled by the speed of migration. Unfortunately, McKinsey observed that today's legacy thinking slows the development of this agility by stalling migrations thereby limiting the value that can be realized through technology. This session explores how leaders can learn from the strategies and tactics of Wall Street to crush this legacy thinking, unblock stalled migrations and get credit for their digital transformations true impact.

Data-driven enterprise: Going from vision to value
Businesses want to unleash the value of data to increase agility, drive innovation, and improve efficiency. While data is abundant and growing rapidly, just producing or storing a lot of it doesn’t automatically create value. Value is realized by creating a culture and operating model that use the data to invent on behalf of customers using actioned insights, analytics, and AI/ML. However, cultural challenges, outdated governance models, organizational silos, and legacy execution approaches stand in the way of realizing this vision. Join this session to learn strategies rooted in the first-hand experience of two former CXOs on how to overcome these barriers to turn this vision into a reality.
Speakers:
Deirdre Toner, Director Data, Worldwide Specialist Organisation

Untangling your Organisational Hairball
Implementing small multi-skilled business outcome-focused teams which can take true advantage of the cloud, what we call 2-Pizza Teams, is actually much harder than it first appears. Enterprises are complex. Implementing new ways of working can feel overwhelming, with perceived challenges and real blockers, all of which can cause inertia. In this keynote we will go beyond high-level concepts. Delving into the weeds, we’ll share real world experience grounded in principles, methods and lessons learned on how to bring these teams to life. The dream of faster, better outcomes can be real.

Jonathan Allen, AWS Global Strategist and former CTO of Capital One Bank
