Keynote speaker

Sean P. Roche, Director of National Security, AWS

Sean P. Roche is AWS’s national security director. In this role, he educates senior public sector leaders about cybersecurity threats and cyber readiness. Previously, he was the associate deputy director for digital innovation at the Central Intelligence Agency (CIA), serving as the second-in-command of CIA’s first new directorate in more than 50 years. They created the Directorate of Digital Innovation (DDI) to accelerate the integration of advanced digital capability across all of CIA’s mission areas and is responsible for cyber intelligence, open source collection, data curation, and data science. He successfully built the directorate’s annual budget to more than $3B while overhauling the legacy personnel systems and practices to create CIA’s first digital workforce. 

Prior to this position, Mr. Roche served as the associate deputy director for science and technology at the CIA. He has been the recipient of multiple Presidential, IC, CIA, and DoD individual and team awards. He has also received the CIA’s highest award for effectively advocating and building a diverse and inclusive workforce.

Breakout sessions
DURATION: 50 MINUTES
Lecture-style presentations covering all topics at all levels and delivered by AWS experts, builders, customers, and partners. Breakout sessions typically include a Q&A at the end.
Chalk talks
DURATION: 50 MINUTES
Highly interactive sessions with a small audience. Experts lead you through problems and solutions on a digital whiteboard as the discussion unfolds.
AWS DeepRacer Workshops
DURATION: 120 MINUTES
Hands-on learning session where you will get started with reinforcement learning (RL), a machine learning (ML) technique through AWS DeepRacer. You'll need an AWS account. We will provide AWS Promotional Credit to all attendees. Come prepared with your laptop and willingness to learn.

Foundational

Sessions focus on providing an overview of AWS services and features, with the assumption that attendees are new to the topic.

Sessions focus on providing best practices, details of service features, and demos with the assumption that attendees have introductory knowledge of the topics.

Advanced

Sessions dive deeper into the selected topic. Presenters assume that the audience has some familiarity with the topic but may or may not have direct experience implementing a similar solution.

Expert

Sessions are for attendees who are deeply familiar with the topic, have implemented a solution on their own already, and are comfortable with how the technology works across multiple services, architectures, and implementations.

AWS DeepRacer

Race for prizes, glory, and a chance to advance to the AWS DeepRacer Grand Finale to compete for the coveted AWS DeepRacer Championship Cup. Build and train a reinforcement learning model at a workshop, or bring one you have trained at home. You can then put your model to the test and compete on the track in the AWS Summit Expo.
