Elasticsearch 5.5 now available on Amazon Elasticsearch Service
Your analytics and search applications can now benefit from support for Elasticsearch 5.5 and Kibana 5.5 in Amazon Elasticsearch Service. Elasticsearch is a popular search and analytics engine for log analytics, full text search, application monitoring, and more. Amazon Elasticsearch Service delivers Elasticsearch’s easy-to-use APIs and real-time capabilities along with the availability, scalability, and security required by production workloads.
When creating an Amazon Elasticsearch Service domain, you can now select Elasticsearch version 5.5. All Amazon Elasticsearch Service domains using Elasticsearch 5.5 are bundled with Kibana 5.5, the corresponding version of the open-source visualization tool.
Elasticsearch 5.5 on Amazon Elasticsearch Service offers several enhancements over the Elasticsearch 5.3 stack including:
- Faster performance: Powered by Apache Lucene 6.6.0, Elasticsearch 5.5 offers a number of query optimizations including more efficient range queries, speed boosts to nested queries, and optimized large term queries.
- Kibana 5.5 Enhancements: Notable Kibana enhancements include: a new visualization creation workflow that makes it easier to find the visualization you are looking for, a new time series visual builder feature that provides a specialized interface for time-series data, and gauge and goal charts visualizations that make it easy to present data within expected ranges.
- Support for stored scripts: We have added support for stored scripts which can dramatically reduce your network payloads. Stored scripts can be used with the Painless, Lucene Expressions, and Mustache scripting languages and complement the existing support for inline scripting.
- Self-service restore from automated snapshots: Self-service restore of Amazon Elasticsearch Service domains is now available from the automated snapshots taken by the service. All automated snapshots are available for restore from the Elasticsearch API or Curator CLI. You no longer have to request support assistance for restore requests.
- Configurable Max Clause Count: The default MaxClauseCount setting is 1024, but sometimes that just isn’t enough. You can now override the default using this advanced setting on domain configuration.
Elasticsearch 5.5 on Amazon Elasticsearch Service is now available in 14 regions globally: US East (N. Virginia), US East (Ohio), US West (Oregon), US West (N. California), Canada (Central), South America (Sao Paulo), EU (Ireland), EU (London), EU (Frankfurt), Asia Pacific (Singapore), Asia Pacific (Sydney), Asia Pacific (Tokyo), Asia Pacific (Seoul), and Asia Pacific (Mumbai) regions.
