EVERSANA Collaborates with AWS and TensorIoT to Automate the Regulatory Review Process

EVERSANA, a leading provider of integrated commercial services for the life sciences industry, wanted to expand its product and service lines with applications that use generative artificial intelligence (AI). EVERSANA knew the potential of generative AI to streamline the medical, legal, and regulatory review (MLR) process—it just needed a partner to help enhance its existing MLR offering. As it began its relationship with AWS, EVERSANA was connected with AWS Partner TensorIoT. Together with AWS and TensorIoT, EVERSANA has not only introduced generative AI capabilities into its current products but also continues to develop new innovations.

With a goal to drive efficiency, business value, and, ultimately, improved patient outcomes, EVERSANA knows that precision and reliability are key, especially within a regulated environment. So, when the company wanted to enhance its service offerings with generative AI-based innovations, it knew Amazon Web Services (AWS) was the place to go. “We have to create services that are accurate, scalable, and globally available,” said Abid Rahman, senior vice president, innovation at EVERSANA. “When you think about those qualities, AWS is best equipped to handle them.”

The company had built many solutions using AWS services over the years and recognized the power of working with AWS Partners to foster innovation. That’s why EVERSANA collaborated with TensorIoT, an AWS Advanced Tier Services Partner, to bring its AI vision to life.

Together, AWS and TensorIoT aligned with EVERSANA’s mission to leverage generative AI to solve complex challenges facing life sciences companies, as part of what EVERSANA calls “pharmatizing AI.” Jim Lang, chief executive officer at EVERSANA, explained, “Pharmatizing AI In the life sciences industry is about leveraging technology to optimize and accelerate common processes that are desperate for innovation and transformation.”

Using AWS services, including Amazon Bedrock and Amazon Textract, TensorIoT helped EVERSANA innovate on the path to achieving its AI goals. “We've been impressed by the engineers at TensorIoT and their deep knowledge of Amazon Bedrock, along with other AWS services,” Rahman said. “We're able to bring these types of solutions very quickly to the market. What would have normally taken months in the past, we have been able to do within weeks with AWS and TensorIoT.”

The first generative AI application born from this partnership automates the MLR process for branded materials. This process can be painstakingly slow when completed manually, requiring significant investment in time and resources.

The new offering from EVERSANA automates the content fact-checking and approval portions of the process, leveraging generative AI and natural language processing (NLP) services from AWS. Using Amazon Bedrock and Amazon Textract, promotional and non-promotional content are analyzed and annotated to extract pre-approved claims, reducing time and effort while providing an accurate and expedited user experience.

Today, EVERSANA is making progress on another critical process for brand materials: content approval. Using generative AI to aid in the content approval process will help eliminate steps in the MLR process by making content as close to compliant as possible.

The company is working with TensorIoT and leveraging Amazon Bedrock and Amazon Textract to drive automation in this process, ultimately helping brands improve the overall content creation process.

“Generative AI will help organizations create content that is not only accurate but meaningful to the audience, whether it's doctors, patients, or caregivers,” said Rahman. EVERSANA predicts that once it automates this portion of the end-to-end MLR process, it can further streamline time-to-approval from weeks to mere days.

Its newest offering for MLR process automation and its upcoming solution for redacting sensitive information are only the first of several new solutions EVERSANA is developing together with AWS. One upcoming innovation involves field and patient assistance solutions. This offering will use chatbots to automate mundane tasks, provide more accurate responses, and improve user experiences. “We look forward to continuing our partnership with TensorIoT and AWS to bring more innovation to market,” said Capan.
