The latest update to the AWS Well-Architected Framework is now available and reflects the latest best practice guidance for designing and deploying cloud workloads. An integral part of the AWS Well-Architected Tool (AWS WA Tool), the AWS Well-Architected Framework has been a guide for building secure, efficient, reliable, cost-effective, and high-performance workloads on AWS since 2015. It continues to evolve and improve as new cloud services and capabilities are introduced.
This update includes new and updated questions, best practices, and improvement plans, plus additional examples and architectural considerations. We have added new best practices in operational excellence (organization), reliability (workload architecture), and cost optimization (practice Cloud Financial Management).
Starting today, all new workloads in the AWS WA Tool will use the new version of the Framework. For existing workloads, you are given the option to upgrade to the new version of the Framework. By using the most recent version, you can be assured that you are getting the best guidance AWS has to offer on operating, building, and adapting workloads for AWS.
With this update, the AWS WA Tool and the Framework whitepapers are now available in a total of 10 languages: English, Spanish, French, German, Italian, Portuguese, Korean, Japanese, Simplified Chinese, and Traditional Chinese. The AWS WA Tool is generally available in the following AWS Regions: US East (N. Virginia, Ohio), US West (N. California, Oregon), Europe (Frankfurt, Ireland, London, Paris, Stockholm), South America (Sao Paulo), Asia Pacific (Singapore, Sydney, Tokyo, Seoul, Mumbai, Hong Kong), Middle East (Bahrain), and Canada (Central).
To get started using the AWS Well-Architected Tool with the new version of the AWS Well-Architected Framework, open the AWS Well-Architected Tool in the AWS Management Console. To learn more, visit the AWS Well-Architected website where the Framework whitepapers are available to read online, or download them to your Kindle or other device.
