Amazon QuickSight's SPICE engine now supports data sets up to 250M rows and 500GB. Customers love using SPICE to accelerate their dashboards, and this increase—from 100M rows and 200GB—is the most frequent request we get. Today we're happy to announce support for larger data sets, letting you accelerate dashboards with more data.
If you have an existing data set that you've filtered to stay below the prior 100M row maximum, you can make use of SPICE's new capacity by removing or relaxing that filter in Data Prep. If you're creating a new data set, there's nothing special you have to do. You can just set up your data set and watch it import all 250M rows.
For more about using SPICE, see this page.
SPICE is Amazon QuickSight's Super-fast, Parallel, In-memory Calculation Engine. SPICE is a query acceleration layer for QuickSight customers to analyze their data. It provides consistently fast query performance and automatically scales for high concurrency. By using SPICE, you save time because you don't need to retrieve the data every time you change an analysis or update a visual.
SPICE’s new 250M data set maximum is available in Enterprise Edition in all supported QuickSight regions: US East (Ohio and N. Virginia), US West (Oregon), EU (Frankfurt, Ireland, and London), and Asia Pacific (Mumbai, Seoul, Singapore, Sydney, and Tokyo).
