Public IP Insights is an Amazon VPC IP Address Manager (IPAM) feature that provides a unified view of all public IPv4 addresses, making it easier for you to monitor, analyze and audit public IPv4 addresses used across AWS services, in your AWS account.
Public IP Insights provides visibility into public IPv4 address usage, identifies AWS resources with public IPv4 addresses associated with them, and offers insights into what the IPv4 address(es) may be used for. Using Public IP Insights, you can easily identify and release public IPv4 addresses that are not in use on AWS resources. Security group insights help you identify inefficient use of public IPv4 addresses, such as public IPv4 addresses used on EC2 instances with security groups rules allowing only ingress traffic for SSH access (via port 22). With this insight, you can use IPv4 efficient alternatives such as EC2 Instance Connect Endpoint.
With a holistic view of public IPv4 usage, you no longer need a manual, cumbersome audit per public IPv4 address across your AWS account. This removes the need to coordinate with multiple teams to identify opportunities to be efficient with public IPv4 use.
Public IP Insights is a free feature, and is available in all AWS commercial and AWS GovCloud (US) Regions. To learn more and get started, please see the VPC IPAM Documentation.
