New Features

Feature Description
Amazon S3 support You can now specify:
  • Separate Amazon S3 buckets for output videos and thumbnails.
  • Amazon S3 permissions on the output videos and thumbnails, which simplifies using Amazon CloudFront to distribute your content.
  • The Amazon S3 storage class.
HLS Elastic Transcoder can now create Apple HLS-compliant, pre-segmented files and playlists.
MPEG-TS Elastic Transcoder now supports MPEG-TS as a container format for output.
Multiple outputs When you submit a job, you can now specify up to 30 outputs in different formats.
Resolution and aspect ratio Elastic Transcoder now lets you specify five values—MaxWidth, MaxHeight, SizingPolicy, PaddingPolicy, and DisplayAspectRatio—to better control the resolution and aspect ratio of output videos. For thumbnails, you can specify MaxWidth, MaxHeight, SizingPolicy, and PaddingPolicy.
Video bitrate You can now specify "auto" instead of a specific bitrate. Elastic Transcoder uses variable bitrate encoding to optimize the bitrate and to maintain a consistent quality for each frame of the output.
Vorbis Elastic Transcoder now supports Vorbis as an audio codec for output.
VP8 Elastic Transcoder now supports VP8 as a video codec for output.
WebM Elastic Transcoder now supports WebM as a container format for output.
