AWS Systems Manager Automation enables you to automate routine operations tasks using runbooks. Starting today, developers can author and edit runbooks using a low-code visual design experience. Simply drag and drop Automation actions and AWS APIs onto a canvas and connect them together as steps to visualize your runbook logic. The visual design experience pre-populates parameters and validates actions in real time so you can build with confidence and efficiency.
To reduce errors while authoring, the visual design experience provides the following safety features: 1) error highlighting, to make debugging easier and more efficient 2) best practice recommendations, such as removing hardcoded configuration parameters, and 3) guided flow, so you don’t accidentally connect unrelated actions or leave an action disconnected. The visual design experience is also integrated with Amazon CodeGuru Security so you can scan Python scripts embedded within your runbook for code security issues and enhance your security posture. This feature is currently in preview.
This new feature enhancement is available in all AWS Regions where AWS Systems Manager is offered, except Amazon Web Services China (Beijing) region, operated by Sinnet, and Amazon Web Services China (Ningxia) region, operated by NWCD.
