AWS has expanded its HIPAA compliance program to include AWS Database Migration Service (DMS). You can now use AWS Database Migration Service to move data between your HIPAA-compliant applications, including protected health information (PHI) under an executed Business Associate Agreement (BAA) with AWS. DMS can be used both to migrate data between databases and for ongoing replication workloads to databases or data warehouses.
AWS can be used to build HIPAA-compliant applications that cover the entire healthcare analytics pipeline. Information on HIPAA-eligible services on AWS can be found at our HIPAA compliance page.
If you already have an executed BAA with AWS, no action is necessary to begin using these services in the account(s) covered by your BAA. If you do not have an executed BAA with AWS or have any other questions about HIPAA-compliant applications on AWS, please contact us and we will put you in touch with a representative from our team.
Visit the AWS Database Migration Service product page to learn more about DMS and our health care page to learn more about building healthcare applications on AWS.
