Now You Can Use Amazon Cloud Directory to Help Maintain HIPAA and PCI Compliance in the AWS Cloud

Posted on: Aug 2, 2017

Now you can use Amazon Cloud Directory, to build and run applications in the AWS Cloud that are subject to U.S. Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) or Payment Card Industry Data Security Standard (PCI DSS) compliance. Amazon Cloud Directory reduces the effort required of you to deploy compliant infrastructure for your cloud-based applications, as you manage your own HIPAA risk management programs or PCI DSS compliance certification.

With Cloud Directory, you can build flexible, cloud-native directories for organizing hierarchies of data along multiple dimensions. You also can create directories for a variety of use cases, such as organizational charts, course catalogs, and device registries. For example, you can create an organizational chart that you can navigate through separate hierarchies for reporting structure, location, and cost center. With this release, Cloud Directory has implemented the controls necessary to enable you to meet HIPAA requirements and is included as an in-scope service in the PCI DSS Attestation of Compliance and Responsibility Summary. Cloud Directory is available in the US East (Ohio), US East (N. Virginia), US West (Oregon), EU (Ireland), EU (London), Asia Pacific (Sydney), and Asia Pacific (Singapore) Regions.
