Today AWS Direct Connect has landed a second site in Paris at Equinix PA3, Paris, France following the region launch in December 2017. It will be found on the Management Console under the EU (Paris) Region. AWS Direct Connect also launched its first site in Taiwan at Chief Telecom LY, Taipei. In the Management Console, Taipei is located in the Asia Pacific (Tokyo) Region. With global access enabled for AWS Direct Connect, these sites can reach AWS resources in any global AWS region using global public VIFs and Direct Connect Gateway.
Customers in Taipei and Paris can now establish a dedicated network connection from their premises to AWS. As with any AWS Direct Connect site, these sites conform to the standard resiliency model that includes two customer facing devices per location that allow customers to establish locally resilient connectivity and redundant connectivity to the Amazon backbone network. Using AWS Direct Connect, you can establish private connectivity between AWS and your datacenter, office, or colocation environment, which in many cases can reduce your network costs, increase bandwidth throughput, and provide a more consistent network experience than Internet-based connections. Connections are always made to a particular Direct Connect location, and can run at either 1 Gbps or 10 Gbps, or work with a partner to connect at speeds less than 1Gbps.
Please see the AWS Direct Connect webpage for details on our locations and pricing. These locations give access to all global AWS Regions as shown in our region table.
