AWS Direct Connect has added new locations in Paris at Interxion PAR7 and in Taipei at Chunghwa Telecom. In the Management Console, these sites can be found under their respective home regions of EU West (Paris) and Asia Pacific (Tokyo). With global access for AWS Direct Connect, these sites can reach AWS resources in any global AWS region using global public VIFs and Direct Connect Gateway. Customers connecting to any AWS region will not have their data hairpin via the home regions if it is not in the shortest path to their desired AWS region.
As with any AWS Direct Connect site, these sites conform to the standard resiliency model that includes two customer facing devices per location that allow customers to establish locally resilient connectivity and redundant connectivity to the Amazon backbone network. Please take a look at our resiliency recommendations when planning your connectivity. Using AWS Direct Connect, you can establish private connectivity between AWS and your datacenter, office, or colocation environment, which in many cases can reduce your network costs, increase bandwidth throughput, and provide a more consistent network experience than Internet-based connections. Connections are always made to a particular Direct Connect location, and can run at either 1 Gbps or 10 Gbps, or work with a partner to connect at speeds less than 1Gbps.
Please see the AWS Direct Connect webpage for details on our locations and pricing. These locations give access to all global AWS Regions as shown in our region table. Instructions on how to set up AWS Direct Connect are available in our AWS Direct Connect Users Guide. Sign in to your AWS Management Console to order AWS Direct Connect today!
