Starting today, Amazon RDS is available in the Los Angeles AWS Local Zone. With Amazon RDS on Local Zones, you can run latency-sensitive portions of your database workloads local to end-users and resources in a specific geography. 

To deploy an RDS database instance into a Local Zone, you select the Local Zone as the target Availability Zone upon the creation of the database. You can attach read replicas in the AWS US West (Oregon) parent region to your DB instances in the Local Zone. Similarly, you can create and attach read replicas in the Local Zone to database instances in the AWS US West (Oregon) parent region.
