Amazon SES now offers VPC Endpoint support for SMTP Endpoints

Posted on: Apr 29, 2020

Amazon Simple Email Service (Amazon SES) now enables customers to connect an Amazon SES SMTP endpoint to a virtual private cloud (VPC) through a VPC endpoint powered by AWS PrivateLink. With this feature, customers can access the Amazon SES SMTP endpoint securely without requiring an Internet Gateway in a VPC.

Customers can create an interface VPC endpoint to connect to Amazon SES SMTP endpoints using the AWS console or AWS Command Line Interface (AWS CLI). For more information, please see Creating an Interface Endpoint. When using an interface VPC endpoint, communication between the VPC and the Amazon SES SMTP endpoint stays within the AWS network, providing an additional layer of security for the already secure AWS network.

This feature is available in all regions where Amazon SES is available. There are no additional Amazon SES costs to use this feature. Interface VPC endpoint charges apply.

Amazon SES is a reliable, cost-effective, cloud-based email service designed to help digital marketers and application developers send marketing, notification, and transactional emails. To learn more about Amazon SES, visit the Amazon SES product page.
