AWS Elemental MediaStore adds lower cost infrequent access storage tier

Posted on: Apr 20, 2020

You can now use a single AWS Elemental MediaStore endpoint to originate your video content throughout its lifecycle, from live stream, to video-on-demand (VOD) playback, through long-tail VOD playback. With the MediaStore Infrequent Access storage tier (MediaStore-IA), you get the performance required for originating live streams and the cost efficiencies needed for long-tail VOD streams, all in a single service.

With MediaStore-IA, you can transition objects to the infrequent access tier to save on storage costs while retaining the same playback URL. There are no performance penalties once objects are transitioned. For information on how to use MediaStore-IA, see the documentation pages here.

AWS Elemental MediaStore is a video origination and storage service that offers the high performance, predictable low latency, and immediate consistency required for live streaming media combined with the security and durability AWS offers across its services. MediaStore offers an inexpensive method for passthrough and low-latency segmented video content delivery, with pay-as-you-go pricing.

The service functions independently or as part of AWS Elemental Media Services, a family of services that form the foundation of cloud-based video workflows and offer you the capabilities you need to transport, create, package, monetize, and deliver video.
