AWS Direct Connect launches second location in Bahrain

Posted on: May 14, 2020

AWS Direct Connect is now live at AWS Bahrain DC52, Manama, Bahrain. This is the second AWS Direct Connect location in Bahrain. Pairing the new DC52 location with existing DC53 location, customers can now establish location redundant connectivity within Bahrain. Further, with global access for AWS Direct Connect, you can reach AWS resources in any global AWS region from any of the above locations using global public VIFs and Direct Connect Gateway. When connecting to any AWS region, your data will not hairpin via the home region if it is not in the shortest path to your desired AWS region.

As with any AWS Direct Connect location, the new DC52 location conforms to the standard resiliency model that includes two customer facing devices per location that allow customers to establish locally resilient and redundant physical connectivity to the Amazon backbone network. Please take a look at our resiliency recommendations when planning your connectivity. Using AWS Direct Connect, you can easily establish private connectivity between AWS and your datacenter, office, or colocation environment, which in many cases can reduce your network costs, increase bandwidth throughput, and provide a more consistent network experience than Internet-based connections.

Please see the AWS Direct Connect website for details on our locations, their associated home regions, the support of logical redundancy, and pricing. All AWS Direct Connect locations give access to all global AWS Regions (except China) as shown in our region table. Customers can get dedicated 1Gbps or 10Gbps connections, or work with a partner for connections with speeds less than 1Gbps.
