Amazon FSx for Lustre now provides highly-durable file system backups

Posted on: Jun 24, 2020

Amazon FSx for Lustre, a service that makes it easy and cost-effective to launch and run the world’s most popular high-performance file system, now enables you to take highly-durable backups of your file systems. This capability makes it easy to further protect your file system data and to meet business and regulatory compliance requirements.

With the click of a button in the AWS Management Console you can make a point-in-time backup copy of your FSx for Lustre file system data. Backups are stored on Amazon S3, designed for 99.999999999% (11 9's) of durability. All backups are incremental, meaning they reduce cost by storing only changes made since the last backup. And backups can be scheduled to be taken automatically each day.

The backups feature for Amazon FSx for Lustre is available in all regions where Amazon FSx is available. You can create and schedule backups using the AWS Management Console, the AWS CLI, and AWS SDKs. For more information about the feature, see the Amazon FSx for Lustre documentation.
