Today, we are excited to announce the general availability (GA) of an Amazon GameLift FleetIQ update that enables game developers to add low-cost, low-latency GameLift servers to their existing on-premises or cloud-based server capacities. GameLift is an AWS managed service for deploying, operating, and scaling dedicated servers for multiplayer games, and it is trusted by some of the most successful game companies in the world, including Ubisoft, Gameloft, and N3TWORK. With this update, developers can launch low-cost GameLift servers into their AWS accounts and register the servers with their existing game server management systems to incrementally migrate live games, burst in-game events, or deploy containerized games onto AWS. In April, we announced the release of this update to GameLift FleetIQ in preview. Configurations you set during preview will continue to work in GA. In addition to the preview feature set, we are also introducing new improvements for GameLift FleetIQ that enable you to use only On-Demand Instances and check game server instance statuses. As a refresher, the updated GameLift FleetIQ delivers:
- Increased flexibility: Use your existing game server management, giving you more control when moving servers to the cloud.
- Cost savings with low latency: You can save up to 70 percent compared to existing on-premises deployments and take advantage of 14 AWS Regions to place game sessions close to players, reducing their latency.
- Open integration with AWS services: Because instances run in your account, you can integrate GameLift FleetIQ with other AWS services, such as AWS Shield, Amazon Elastic Kubernetes Service, and AWS Global Accelerator.
GameLift FleetIQ update is available in 40 instance types and 14 Regions—so you can pick the instance type and geography that’s best for your game and your players. Public Regions include London, Ireland, Seoul, Mumbai, Oregon, Northern California, Northern Virginia, Ohio, Canada, Sao Paulo, Frankfurt, Singapore, Tokyo, and Sydney. Availability in Beijing (operated by Sinnet) will soon follow.
