AWS has repositioned Amazon Kinesis Data Analytics for Java to Amazon Kinesis Data Analytics for Apache Flink to emphasize our continued support for Apache Flink.
Amazon Kinesis Data Analytics launched in 2016 as an easy way to analyze streaming data using SQL. When customers asked us to support additional languages, we built a new offering called Amazon Kinesis Data Analytics for Java that employed Apache Flink as a stream processing engine. Today, customers experience Amazon Kinesis Data Analytics for Java as an easy way to build and manage Apache Flink applications. Kinesis Data Analytics also now supports more languages provided by Apache Flink, including Scala, with more coming soon. We are now reflecting that experience in the updated name, Amazon Kinesis Data Analytics for Apache Flink.
Amazon Kinesis Data Analytics for Apache Flink reduces the complexity of building, managing, and integrating Apache Flink applications with Amazon Managed Streaming for Apache Kafka (Amazon MSK), Amazon Kinesis Data Streams, Amazon Elasticsearch Service, Amazon S3, and more.
