InSync FrameFormer frame rate conversion now available with AWS Elemental MediaConvert

Posted on: Oct 7, 2020

AWS Elemental MediaConvert now offers support for InSync FrameFormer frame rate conversion. With this feature, you can use InSync FrameFormer technology to perform broadcast-quality, motion-compensated frame rate conversions between international broadcast frame rates or between broadcast and film frame rates. This allows you to create high-quality video output files even when complex frame rate conversions are required.

High quality video frame rate conversion is challenging. Motion within the video may appear to stutter as frames are duplicated or dropped, and frames can have degraded video quality when two frames are combined. Source videos may also have been edited together after a telecine or inverse telecine operation, resulting in inconsistent cadences. InSync FrameFormer helps solve these problems by analyzing adjacent frames, detecting motion within the video, and taking into consideration the display timing of new frames to blend images and maintain image quality. With FrameFormer, motion in the video remains smooth and consistent and scene boundaries retain clear separation.

InSync FrameFormer works with all content and formats supported by AWS Elemental MediaConvert today in SD, HD, and 4K resolutions. InSync FrameFormer is priced as an add-on; for more information, please visit the MediaConvert pricing page.

With AWS Elemental MediaConvert, video providers with any size content library can easily and reliably transcode on-demand content for broadcast and multiscreen delivery.
