Starting today AWS Transit Gateway supports internet protocol (IP) multicast in AWS regions worldwide namely: US West (Oregon), US West (N. California), US East (Ohio), EU (Ireland), EU (London), EU (Stockholm), EU (Paris), EU (Milano), Asia Pacific (Tokyo), Asia Pacific (Sydney), Asia Pacific (Mumbai) and South Africa (Cape Town).
IP multicast on AWS Transit Gateway makes it easy for customers to build multicast applications in the cloud and distribute data across thousands of connected Amazon Virtual Private Cloud networks. Multicast delivers a single stream of data to many users simultaneously. It is a preferred protocol to stream multimedia content and subscription data such as news articles and stock quotes, to a group of subscribers. With support for IP multicast, AWS Transit Gateway makes it easy for customers to build multicast applications in the cloud and easily monitor, manage, and scale multicast configurations up to hundreds of receivers.
AWS is the first cloud provider to offer native IP multicast capabilities that enable customers to migrate their multicast applications to the cloud and take advantage of the elasticity and scalability that AWS provides.
