Starting today, you can use AWS Secrets Manager to rotate AWS Database Migration Service (DMS) source and target database credentials. Rotating credentials is an AWS Identity and Access Management (IAM) best practice that helps you meet your security and compliance requirements.
To get started, create and store your source or target (or both) credentials as a secret in AWS Secrets Manager and then provide these details to AWS DMS. AWS DMS will retrieve credentials from AWS Secrets Manager every time it needs to connect to the endpoint. By storing credentials in AWS Secrets Manager, you can reduce the overhead of maintaining DMS source and target authentication system, including: auditing, updating, and rotating your source and target database related credentials.
