Today, AWS announces Amazon Location Service, a fully managed service that helps developers easily and securely add maps, points of interest, geocoding, routing, tracking, and geofencing to their applications without compromising on data security, user privacy, or cost. With Amazon Location Service, you retain control of your location data, protecting your privacy and reducing enterprise security risks. Amazon Location Service provides a consistent API across high-quality LBS data providers (Esri and HERE), all managed through one AWS console.
With Amazon Location Service, you can add location functionality for use cases ranging from map-based visualization, asset/resource tracking, delivery, and location-aware user engagement with geomarketing. The Amazon Location Service console provides a visual and interactive tool for you to quickly experiment with capabilities like default maps, search points of interest, simulate tracking devices, draw geofences, and get directions. Amazon Location Service is easy to use and helps you move applications from experimentation to production faster by providing integrations with multiple AWS services such as AWS CloudTrail, Amazon CloudWatch, Amazon EventBridge, AWS Identity and Access Management (IAM) and AWS Key Management Service (KMS).
Amazon Location Service is available in the following AWS Regions: US East (N. Virginia), US East (Ohio), US West (Oregon), Europe (Frankfurt), Europe (Ireland), Europe (Stockholm), Asia Pacific (Singapore), Asia Pacific (Sydney) Region, and Asia Pacific (Tokyo).
