We are excited to announce the availability of smaller sized Amazon EC2 G4ad instances that deliver up to 40% better price performance over comparable GPU-based instances for graphics intensive applications such as virtual workstations and game streaming. Like the other G4ad instances, these new sizes are powered by AMD Radeon Pro V520 GPUs and second-generation AMD EPYC processors and are designed to be cost-effective for workloads that don’t need the high vCPU and system memory that current larger G4ad instance sizes offer providing the lowest cost GPU instance in the AWS Cloud.
Size | GPUs | vCPUs | Memory (GB) | On-Demand Price/hr* (Linux) |
G4ad.xlarge (new) | 1 | 4 | 16 | $0.379 |
G4ad.2xlarge (new) | 1 | 8 | 32 | $0.541 |
G4ad.4xlarge | 1 | 16 | 64 | $0.867 |
G4ad.8xlarge | 2 | 32 | 128 | $1.734 |
G4ad.16xlarge | 4 | 64 | 256 | $3.468 |
*Prices shown are for the US East (Northern Virginia) AWS Region. For full pricing details, see the Amazon EC2 pricing page.
Amazon EC2 G4ad.xlarge and G4ad.2xlarge instances are ideal for game streaming and virtual workstations used to create visual effects & animation and run design & engineering applications. With these new sizes, customers now have up to 25% lower cost than comparable GPU-based instances for their graphics applications and can take advantage of the flexibility to provision resources as needed rather than being limited by on-premises capacity.
These new G4ad instance sizes are available in US East (N. Virginia, Ohio), US West (Oregon), Canada (Central), Europe (Frankfurt, Ireland, London), and Asia Pacific (Tokyo). The G4ad instances can be purchased On-Demand, as part of Savings Plans, as Reserved Instances, or Spot Instances.
