Starting today, OpsCenter, a capability of AWS Systems Manager, automatically analyzes operational items in customers’ accounts. Then, OpsCenter generates operational insights when it detects duplicate operational items or a large number of operational items created by the same event source. For each operational insight, OpsCenter recommends actions that operators and IT professionals can take to address the underlying issue. This improves operational efficiency by reducing alert noise, so that you can focus on issues that matter most. By using OpsCenter, you can track and resolve operational items related to AWS resources in a central place, helping to reduce the time to issue resolution.
For example, OpsCenter automatically generates an operational insight if it detects multiple unresolved operational items with the same title and affected resource such as an Amazon Elastic Compute Cloud (Amazon EC2) instance. For this insight, you can view the insight description and the list of operational items identified as duplicates. OpsCenter recommends an action you can take to add a deduplication string to the event source to avoid creating duplicate operational items in the future. OpsCenter also recommends an action to bulk-resolve all duplicate operational items. OpsCenter will automatically resolve the operational insight when all duplicate operational items are resolved.
This feature is now available in all AWS Regions where AWS Systems Manager is offered. To learn more about operational insights, ready our blog post or visit the AWS Systems Manager product page and documentation.
