Amazon CloudWatch Internet Monitor is a new preview feature of Amazon CloudWatch that helps you, as application developers and network engineers, continually monitor internet availability and performance metrics between your AWS-hosted applications and application end users. InternetMonitor monitors your application through Amazon Virtual Private Clouds (VPCs), Amazon CloudFront distributions, and Amazon WorkSpaces directories.
Internet Monitor enables you to quickly visualize the impact of issues, pinpoint locations and providers that are affected, and then helps you take action to improve your end users' network experience. You can see a global view of traffic patterns and health events, and easily drill down into information about events at different geographic granularities. If an issue is caused by the AWS network, you’ll receive an AWS Health Dashboard notification that tells you the steps that AWS is taking to mitigate the problem. Internet Monitor also provides insights and recommendations that can help you improve your users' experience by using other AWS services or by rerouting traffic to your workload through different Regions. Internet Monitor publishes measurements to CloudWatch Metrics and CloudWatch Logs that include the geographies and networks specific to your application. It also sends health event notifications through Amazon EventBridge. AWS CloudFormation is not supported at this time but is coming soon. For more information about the AWS Regions where Internet Monitor is available, see the AWS Region table.
