AWS Backup now supports restoring VMware backups to Amazon EC2. This allows you to restore your VMware backups directly in EC2, as EC2 native instances. AWS Backup can restore to on-premises VMware, VMware CloudTM on AWS Outposts, VMware CloudTM on AWS, and Amazon Elastic Block Store (EBS). AWS Backup also supports restoring virtual machines (VMs) at the VM-level or disk-level.
AWS Backup support for restore of VMware workloads to Amazon EC2 provides you a simple and cost-effective method of migrating your on-premises VMware workloads to AWS and meet your data recovery requirements across VMware environments. AWS Backup provides a consistent data protection experience from on premises to Cloud, helping you meet your business and regulatory compliance needs. You can use a single policy in AWS Backup to simplify data protection and automate lifecycle management of your VMware environments alongside the supported AWS storage, compute, and database services.
