Amazon Timestream announces a fully managed data protection functionality through integration with AWS Backup. You can now protect your time series data through immutable backups, automate backup lifecycle management, copy your backup across AWS Regions and accounts, and restore your data with ease.
Amazon Timestream is a fast, scalable, secure, and purpose-built time series database for application monitoring, edge, and IoT workloads that can scale to process trillions of time series events per day. With features such as multi-measure records and scheduled queries, Amazon Timestream enables you to analyze time series data and derive business insights cost-effectively. You can now protect your Timestream resources using a fully managed, policy-driven centralized data protection solution to create immutable backups of your application data, spanning Timestream and other AWS services supported by AWS Backup.
To get started, you need to opt-in to have AWS Backup manage your Timestream backups via Timestream console or AWS Backup console, API, or CLI (this is a one-time event). Once opted in, you can use on-demand backup to create a one-time backup of your Timestream data, or schedule a backup, using a backup policy, to create recurring backup of your data. You can set retention policies that will automatically retain, expire, and transition backups to cold storage, minimizing backup storage costs, and copy backups to other AWS Regions and accounts for disaster recovery scenarios. You can also restore the entire table to the database with a few clicks, simplifying data recovery.
Amazon Timestream is HIPAA eligible, ISO certified, FedRAMP (Moderate) compliant, PCI DSS compliant, and in scope for AWS’s SOC reports SOC 1, SOC 2, and SOC 3.
