You can now create Amazon FSx for Windows File Server Multi-AZ file systems in the US West (N. California) Region to support your business-critical workloads that require highly available shared storage deployed across multiple AWS Availability Zones (AZs), including SQL Server database workloads and line-of-business workloads such as banking, retail, and healthcare applications.
Amazon FSx for Windows File Server, a service that provides fully managed file storage built on Windows Server, offers two deployment types: Single-AZ and Multi-AZ. Single-AZ file systems are built with a single Windows file server in a single AZ and designed as a cost-efficient solution for test and development workloads, or certain production workloads with relaxed availability needs. Multi-AZ file systems are composed of a cluster of Windows file servers spread across two AZs, and are designed to provide continued availability across planned system maintenance and unplanned service disruption by failing over automatically to the standby AZ. We recommend using Multi-AZ file systems for most production workloads that require high availability to shared Windows file data.
Amazon FSx for Windows Multi-AZ file systems are available today in the US West (N. California) Region and all other AWS Regions where FSx for Windows is available. To learn more about Amazon FSx for Windows, visit our product page and the FSx for Windows documentation.
