Today, we are excited to announce that Amazon EMR has made it up to 35% faster, year on year, to launch an Amazon EMR on EC2 cluster. With these improvements, majority of the customer can launch their Amazon EMR on EC2 clusters in 5 mins or less.
Amazon EMR is a cloud big data platform for data processing, interactive analysis, and machine learning using open-source frameworks such as Apache Spark, Apache Hive, and Presto. With this launch, your Amazon EMR on EC2 clusters will start-up 35% faster with no impact to performance. This improvement particularly benefits customers with short-running jobs on transient clusters.
Customers will get faster cluster start times when they launch their clusters with Amazon EMR versions 6.12 and higher. No further action is needed from your end.
