Billing Transfer

Why Billing Transfer?

Whether you're managing multiple AWS organizations or you are an AWS Partner reselling cloud services, Billing Transfer simplifies your billing operations by consolidating AWS bills from multiple organizations into a single management account. This centralized approach streamlines cost visibility and reporting across your entire AWS footprint, reducing administrative overhead while improving financial oversight.

Benefits

Centrally billing management and payments across multiple AWS organizations through a single account, eliminating administrative complexity.

Access cost and usage analytics across your entire AWS footprint from one single account, enabling better financial planning and optimization decisions.

Preserve independent administrative control within each organization while streamlining billing operations—ensuring governance flexibility without operational overhead.

Safeguard proprietary pricing agreements and sensitive billing information while enabling appropriate cost transparency for reporting and management.

How it works

Billing transfers begin with an invitation. First, identify the management account you'll use for centralized billing management. From this management account, send Billing Transfer invitations to the management accounts you want to manage billing for. Each invitation specifies the start date and the pricing visibility settings for the accepting organization. Once accepted, your management account becomes responsible for managing and paying the bills ofthe organizations that accepted your invitations. These organizations no longer receive AWS bills and can only access cost data that you make available to them through AWS Billing Conductor.

Use Cases

Billing Transfer enables organizations to centralize invoice management and payment responsibilities across multiple AWS organizations. Billing owners can receive and process individual invoices for all the AWS organizations using Billing Transfer in their central billing account, while maintaining decentralized administrative controls. By default, the invoice transferred to the central account inherit the Tax Settings and Seller of Records (SOR) of the central billing account, but you can use ‘Invoice Configuration’ functionality to assign different tax settings and SORs to the invoices of each of AWS organizations that have transferred the bills away.

Once billing transfer is active, you will have access to other AWS organizations cost data via Billing Views. From the side navigation panel in the Billing and Cost Management Console, enable the Billing View modal, and use the drop down to select your preferred billing view.

With the Billing Conductor integration, the billing account can supply public pricing or customrates (pricing markups/discounts) to support complex cost allocations use cases or chargeback processes.

For AWS Channel Partners, Billing Transfer simplifies end-customers onboarding and relationship reporting.
