AWS IoT Core for Amazon Sidewalk
Build connected solutions easily on a highly reliable free-to-connect network
Why AWS IoT Core for Amazon Sidewalk?
Amazon Sidewalk is a secure community network that uses Amazon Sidewalk Gateways (also called Sidewalk Bridges), such as compatible Amazon Echo and Ring devices, to provide cloud connectivity for IoT endpoint devices. Amazon Sidewalk enables low-bandwidth and long-range connectivity at home and beyond using Bluetooth Low Energy for short-distance communication and LoRa and FSK radio protocols at 900MHz frequencies to cover longer distances.
The integration of Amazon Sidewalk with AWS IoT Core, enables you to easily provision, onboard, and monitor your Amazon Sidewalk devices. Through AWS IoT Core for Amazon Sidewalk, you can accelerate the cloud onboarding process for your Sidewalk-enabled devices and access over 200+ AWS Services and capabilities, such as Machine Learning, Artificial Intelligence, and more. The integration between Amazon Sidewalk and AWS IoT Core Device Location enables you to get the geo-coordinates of your Amazon Sidewalk device even when your device does not have an in-built GPS module.
Benefits
Send information like WiFi access point, Global Navigation Satellite System (GNSS) data or Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE) data from your Amazon Sidewalk enabled device to AWS IoT Core for Amazon Sidewalk and resolve the geo-coordinates of your Amazon Sidewalk enabled devices. Send the resolved location data to an AWS IoT rule or MQTT topic and use it in your backend applications.
Use cases
DeNova Detect
DeNova Detect, an IoT product from New Cosmos, uses Amazon Sidewalk to send alerts via text, call, and email to notify the end user when their residential gas detectors identity a gas leak.
MerryIoT
With the growing ubiquity of the Sidewalk network, The MerryIoT sensors from Browan not only benefit from increased range, but also provide a seamless out-of-box experience for users.
Deviceroy
The Aria smart modem from Deviceroy uses Amazon Sidewalk to connect machines used in solar, utilities, and smart homes/buildings applications to the Internet.
Meshify
Meshify (IoT subsidiary of HSB) uses Amazon Sidewalk’s long range, low bandwidth connectivity to mitigate losses that can severely damage homes or shut down small businesses, such as water leaks or frozen pipe bursts.
