Stockholm Exergi increased energy efficiency by up to 10 percent while improving the resilience of critical infrastructure on AWS. The cogeneration heat and power company wanted to unlock site-level insight into people’s heating needs and use it to reduce consumption. By installing edge devices in customer substations and developing software using Amazon S3 and AWS IoT Core, Stockholm Exergi managed heat delivery to create “smart” buildings. It reduced emissions by reallocating slack in the heating system and shaving use during peak consumption. Now, Stockholm Exergi is developing a SaaS solution on AWS to offer to district heating providers, which will further expand environmental benefits.
