AWS Support Automation Workflows (SAW)
Self-service diagnosis and remediation for AWS customers
Overview
- Resolve common issues in your AWS environment using secure and fast
self-service automation, created by the AWS Support Engineering team. - Troubleshoot, proactively monitor and identify network issues, collect and analyze logs, and more.
- Reduce manual effort, administrative overhead, and human errors, following AWS best practices.
How it works
The AWS SAW Process
1
AWS Systems Manager
The process begins with AWS Systems Manager, a unified interface for managing AWS resources. This service acts as the foundation for executing automated support solutions and accessing the SAW runbooks.
2
SAW Runbooks
AWS Support Engineering provides a curated collection of automation runbooks containing proven troubleshooting procedures. These runbooks incorporate best practices derived from resolving numerous customer issues across various AWS services.
3
Run SAW Runbook
Customers can initiate the automation process through a browser-based interface by selecting and executing their chosen SAW runbook. This step allows users to start the automated troubleshooting and remediation workflow.
4
Automation Workflow
Once initiated, the automation workflow executes the predefined steps in the selected runbook. The system performs automated diagnostics and remediation actions according to the runbook's specifications.
5
Remediation Guidance
The process concludes with clear remediation guidance, providing customers with verification of completed actions and any necessary follow-up steps. This documentation helps ensure the issue has been properly addressed and resolved.
