Journey to the cloud: How Wesfarmers achieved modernization and business agility with AWS
Wesfarmers, an organization that owns and operates Kmart Group and Target in Australia and New Zealand, embarked on their digital transformation with Kmart Australia Limited (Kmart) in 2016. While the initial migration helped Kmart achieve significant cost savings and freed up application teams from operational processes, they took their transformation efforts to the next level in 2022 with further migration of more than 55 on-premises applications to AWS. Applications migrated included x86 workloads and key business applications for HR and finance, supply chain, merchandise and inventory, stores, infrastructure, and workplace technology. Kmart has been able to deliver exceptional business operational outcomes based on its use of cloud services such as containerization, machine learning, personalization, and so much more to improve customer experience and operational resiliency, in addition to accelerating time to value.
