You now can restore Amazon DynamoDB tables even faster when recovering from data loss or corruption. The increased efficiency of restores and their ability to better accommodate workloads with imbalanced write patterns reduce table restore times across base tables of all sizes and data distributions. To accelerate the speed of restores for tables with secondary indexes, you can exclude some or all secondary indexes from being created with the restored tables.
DynamoDB backup and restore provides simple, fully automated features to create continuous and on-demand backups of your DynamoDB tables so that you can then restore from these backups. Point-in-time recovery (PITR) provides continuous backups of your DynamoDB table data to protect you against accidental writes and deletes. When you enable PITR, you can restore a table to any second in the preceding 35 days. With on-demand backups, you can create full backups of your DynamoDB tables for long-term archiving and retention, helping you meet regulatory requirements. You can restore tables from a few megabytes to hundreds of terabytes of data with no impact on the performance or availability of your production applications.
