Solution

Reshaping In-Vehicle Software Lifecyle with Generative AI

To address systematic upgrade, FAW Qiming didn’t pursue isolated optimizations, but integrated code development, unit testing, requirement management and APP O&M with AWS Kiro IDE and Kiro CLI at the core, establishing a pathway to higher efficiency marked by AI empowerment and human-machine synergy.

Code Adaptation: Kiro IDE Unleashes the Potential of “Full-Stack Developers” and Activates Talent Pool

In the iteration of IoV APPs, cross-version development used to be a major efficiency bottleneck: after the Android version was finalized, the iOS version had to be built anew by either an outsourcing team or another internal team, and the process would take as long as a month and involve high communication costs. Kiro IDE has completely changed the situation, allowing developers who are even not proficient in target system language to get high-quality and compliant iOS code framework simply by inputting clear business logic. This shortens the cross-version adaptation cycle to less than a week, boosting efficiency severalfold.

More innovatively, Kiro IDE functions as an “activator” for the company’s internal talent pool. In the face of an urgent internal management system development task, eight O&M engineers, who had deep business expertise but little coding practice, successfully translated their deep understanding of business into executable code instructions with the help of Kiro IDE, an intelligent coding partner. Instead of going through a lengthy language relearning process, they focused on logic validation and debugging. Finally, they not only delivered the product on time, but achieved individual ability breakthroughs and flexible shifts between team roles. This has forged an “agile team” highly responsive to changes for the company.

Unit Testing: Kiro CLI Boosts In-Vehicle Testing Efficiency and Guarantees Software Quality

To address the pain point that in-vehicle software is too complex to be fully covered by manual testing, FAW Qiming used Kiro CLI to revolutionize the unit testing process. By intelligently analyzing code logic and automatically generating testing cases for complex scenarios, such as multi-device interaction in IoV and abnormal network interruption, Kiro CLI improves the coverage of testing. More importantly, the tool can be seamlessly integrated with the development process, automatically optimizing testing cases while codes are updated and ensuring the synchronization between testing and development. Incorporated into the CI/CD process, testing is automated with one-click execution and report generation features. This transforms quality feedback from a “post-hoc validation” step into real-time guardrails throughout the development process, substantially shortening the time to detect and fix defects.

Requirements Output: Kiro IDE Drives Efficient In-Vehicle R&D Collaboration Through Requirement Standardization

To enhance cross-team collaboration, FAW Qiming has built a standardized requirement collaboration hub based on Kiro IDE. The tool can quickly translate vague and fragmented business inputs from multiple sources into well-structured user requirements with clear acceptance standards, reducing the risk of rework caused by misunderstandings from the outset. With its built-in version management mechanism, any changes to requirements can be automatically synchronized to all relevant teams in real time, ensuring information consistency. In addition, Kiro IDE can also store requirement templates for different scenarios such as IoV and vehicle control. When developing new functions, teams can quickly decompose requirements based on these templates, improving the efficiency and accuracy of requirement analysis, effectively controlling changes arising from development, and thus keeping projects on the right track.

APP O&M: Kiro CLI Empowers Automation of Fault Identification and Repair

In the global O&M scenario, fast identification and repair of faults are crucial. FAW Qiming embeds Kiro CLI into its daily O&M system. When anomalies occur in the IoV APP system deployed on AWS’ global infrastructure, O&M engineers no longer need to sift through logs manually. Instead, by issuing natural language commands through Kiro CLI, they can invoke and integrate multi-source system logs, monitoring metrics, and error codes. AI can quickly analyze the data, directly pinpoint root causes, and provide concrete repair suggestions or even executable command scripts based on historical cases and best practices. This dramatically cuts the mean time to repair (MTTR) for critical businesses.

In high-risk operations such as version release and rollback, Kiro CLI can clearly correlate code submission records with O&M incidents, providing reliable data to inform decisions and reducing O&M risks substantially. This not only speeds up O&M response, but also frees O&M engineers from repetitive troubleshooting work, allowing them to focus instead on the long-term optimization and stability of system architectures.
