Reveleer Enhances Value-Based Care with AI-Powered Healthcare Analytics on AWS

Reveleer uses AWS services like Amazon Textract and Amazon Comprehend Medical to efficiently analyze medical records, empowering healthcare organizations to provide value-based care.

Overview

Value-based care is a healthcare model that prioritizes quality over quantity, focusing on improving patient outcomes and reducing costs—unlike the traditional fee-for-service approach. To effectively implement this, healthcare organizations need to analyze vast amounts of medical chart data to provide accurate diagnoses, appropriate treatment plans, and proper reimbursement.

Reveleer, a healthcare data and analytics company powered by artificial intelligence (AI), needed to find a way to expedite this process while maintaining a high degree of accuracy. “As a part of facilitating value-based care, one of the things that we need to do is look back at medical chart data,” says Sunil Chandran, chief technology officer at Reveleer. “When you query a particular patient’s data, you get thousands of pages. And now at scale, you’re talking about millions of pages of medical records that are coming into our platform.”

To address these challenges, Reveleer is using Amazon Web Services (AWS) technologies. Using AI, Reveleer can scan medical records and identify diagnostic conditions with high accuracy. Primarily, Reveleer uses Amazon Textract, which automatically extracts text, handwriting, layout elements, and data from scanned documents, and Amazon Comprehend Medical, which helps extract information from unstructured medical text accurately and quickly.

“We identify with a high degree of accuracy what diagnostic conditions are found within a particular patient’s medical record,” says Chandran. “Once we have those, we are able to highlight those to our actual medical coders, who can quickly review. They don’t have to look at thousands of pages.”

Solution

Using AI on AWS, Reveleer offers its customers a highly reliable and efficient platform for analyzing medical records. The Reveleer platform has a 100 percent uptime, and 90 percent of responses are served in under 8 seconds.

“This technology lets us analyze all of these medical charts that we have at scale, makes it easier for our coders, and increases the level of accuracy,” says Chandran. “Reveleer processed over 45 million pages of medical chart data in the first quarter of 2024, and these are numbers that are expected to grow.”

Outcome

Reveleer is excited about the potential of AI and plans to incorporate more AWS services in the future. The company is particularly interested in Amazon Bedrock, a fully managed service that offers a choice of high-performing foundation models from leading AI companies. By integrating these capabilities, Reveleer aims to empower healthcare providers to make more informed decisions and ultimately improve patient outcomes thanks to accurate, efficient medical record analysis.
