AWS re:Invent 2023

Mission Cloud + MagellanTV at AWS re:Invent 2023

In this AWS re:Invent 2023 video, Simon Anderson, Founder and CEO of Mission Cloud, and Tom Lucas, Cofounder of MagellanTV, discuss how generative artificial intelligence (AI) on Amazon Web Services (AWS) is helping the boutique streaming service scale and foster a global community of documentary enthusiasts.

MagellanTV is a streaming venture specializing in high-end documentary films and series focused on science, adventure, history, nature. The company is partnering with Mission Cloud and using AWS services such as Amazon Bedrock, Amazon Polly, Amazon Comprehend, Amazon SageMaker, and Amazon Transcribe to break language barriers and make its documentaries accessible worldwide.

On AWS, Mission Cloud created an innovative workflow that automates the translation and dubbing of English- language documentaries, capturing the intricacies of language with minimal human intervention.

This solution has the potential to reduce the time and costs of traditional dubbing by up to 99 percent, revolutionizing the economics of content distribution and opening new markets for filmmakers. MagellanTV’s audience, self-identified lifelong learners worldwide, benefits from this transformative technology, which not only enhances accessibility but also unites viewers around shared interests.
