AWS Shield Advanced, a managed Distributed Denial of Service (DDoS) protection service, now provides the global threat environment dashboard that shows DDoS trends and metrics across Amazon CloudFront, Elastic Load Balancing, and Amazon Route 53.
The global threat environment dashboard shows an easy-to-understand sampling of data about DDoS attacks. The dashboard displays a summary of the global threat environment, including the largest attack, top vectors, and the relative number of significant attacks. The threat summary data is automatically updated in near real time as and when significant attacks happen. Customers can also view different time durations to see a history of DDoS attacks. The global threat environment dashboard also gives a current “Threat level”, which is an indicator of the severity of DDoS threats currently occurring on Amazon CloudFront, Elastic Load Balancing, and Amazon Route 53. Customers can use this to be more operationally ready and take any necessary precautions.
AWS Shield Advanced is a managed DDoS protection service for customer applications running on Elastic Load Balancing (ELB), Amazon CloudFront and Amazon Route 53. AWS Shield Advanced provides a higher level of protection than AWS Shield Standard, which is available to all AWS customers at no additional cost. With AWS Shield Advanced customers also get AWS WAF at no additional charge, 24X7 access to the AWS DDoS Response Team, and DDoS Cost protection.
