Amazon Spectrum is now available in three additional AWS regions: US West (Northern California), EU (London), and Canada (Central).

Amazon Redshift Spectrum is a feature of Amazon Redshift that extends analytics to data stored in your Amazon S3 data lake using the open file formats you already use, with no loading or transformations needed. You can seamlessly use the same standard SQL of Amazon Redshift and the Business Intelligence tools you use today. Amazon Redshift Spectrum applies sophisticated query optimization and scales processing across potentially thousands of nodes to give you high concurrency and fast results – even with large data sets and complex queries. Amazon Redshift Spectrum gives you the freedom to store your data where you want, in the format you want, and have it available for processing when you need it.
