Amazon WorkMail now provides automatic DNS configuration for Route 53 domains, allowing customers to perform 1-click insertion of all Amazon WorkMail-related DNS records to their Route 53 hosted zone when setting up a custom domain.
When WorkMail administrators add a domain in Amazon WorkMail, they need to confirm that they own the domain and add mail-specific DNS records to route email properly. Previously, it was a manual process involving copy-pasting multiple records to their DNS provider. Now, if the domain is managed by Route53, WorkMail provides the option to automatically insert all WorkMail-related DNS records to the domain's hosted zone. This saves time and reduces the risk of error with manual configuration for WorkMail administrators. Customers who do not manage their domains in Route 53 or have more advanced DNS settings will follow the same procedure as before to setup their domains.
This feature is available today for Amazon WorkMail domains hosted by Route53 and available in all AWS Regions where Amazon WorkMail is offered. For more information see Working with Domains. To learn more about Amazon WorkMail, or to start your trial, please visit Amazon WorkMail.
