Amazon EMR now supports AWS PrivateLink

Posted on: Dec 18, 2019

Amazon EMR is now available through VPC endpoints, allowing you to access Amazon EMR within your Amazon Virtual Private Cloud (Amazon VPC) without traversing the internet. VPC endpoints for Amazon EMR are powered by AWS PrivateLink, which provides secure, private connectivity between VPCs and AWS services.

You can create an interface VPC endpoint to connect to EMR using the AWS console or AWS Command Line Interface (AWS CLI) commands. For more information, please see Connect to Amazon EMR Using an Interface VPC Endpoint. When you use an interface VPC endpoint, communication between your VPC and EMR APIs is secure and stays within the AWS network.

This feature is available in US East (N. Virginia & Ohio), US West (N. California & Oregon), Canada (Central), EU (Frankfurt, Ireland, London, Paris, and Stockholm), South America (São Paulo), Asia Pacific (Singapore), and AWS GovCloud (US). There are no additional EMR costs to use this feature. Interface VPC endpoint charges apply.
