Starting today, Amazon Transcribe supports batch transcription in six new languages - Afrikaans, Danish, Mandarin Chinese (Taiwan), Thai, New Zealand English, and South African English. Amazon Transcribe is an automatic speech recognition (ASR) service that makes it easy for you to add speech to text capabilities to your applications.
Amazon Transcribe enables organizations to increase the value and accessibility of their audio and video content, serving a breadth of use cases. For instance, contact centers can transcribe customer conversations into text to extract valuable insights such as sentiment and emerging trends. With Amazon Transcribe, media and entertainment companies can automate subtitling workflows for greater engagement and accessibility. Enterprises can transcribe meetings to make the content accessible and searchable by detecting key terms.
These new languages are available in all public AWS Regions where Amazon Transcribe is available, including the AWS GovCloud (US) Regions, the AWS China (Beijing) Region, operated by Sinnet, and the AWS China (Ningxia) Region, operated by NWCD. To get started, go to the Amazon Transcribe service console, create an audio transcript with a 10-minute tutorial, or refer to the Transcribe documentation.
