AWS Glue Studio now supports Amazon Redshift Serverless as a data source or target out-of-the-box. AWS Glue Studio enables ETL (Extract, Transform and Load) developers to visually transform data with a no-code, drag-and-drop interface. Glue’s visual interface saves the developer time authoring, running, and monitoring highly scalable ETL jobs. Developers can pull data from a variety of data sources including AWS services like Amazon S3, Amazon Kinesis, and Amazon Redshift. With this new feature, developers can read and write data into Amazon Redshift Serverless more effectively.
Before this launch, Glue Studio developers only had to access Redshift tables in Redshift clusters. Now, those same developers can connect to Redshift Serverless tables directly without manual configuration. As a result, they can use Glue Studio’s built in ETL capabilities for Amazon Redshift including custom SQL source definition and common target operations for Redshift Serverless tables.
To get started, create a new Glue connection for Amazon Redshift and select an Amazon Redshift serverless cluster. This feature is available in all commercial AWS Regions where AWS Glue is available.
